We have favorite sections of the Appalachian Trail in every state that it passes through - but as a guideline - we offer several "Highlight Trips" on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail:
a) "Appalachian Trail: The Southern Terminus": On this 5 day adventure you'll spend 1 day site-seeing / prepping at the gateway to the trail's southern terminus - Amicalola Falls State park - then hike for four days on the world famous Appalachian National Scenic Trail. You'll start at the trail's very beginning (the stone arch at the beginning of the "Appalachian Approach Trail", see the first white blaze and plaque signaling the Appalachian Trail's start atop Springer Mountain, GA and experience what it's like to start the "AT" where the large majority of "thru-hikers" start out (who hike the entire trail from Georgia to Maine - nicknamed "northbounders").

If you book this trip from Mid-march to early May - you'll be able to meet up with many of the "thru-hikers" and immerse yourself in the trail culture even more!! You can schedule this hike with us 365 days a year!!! NO GROUP SIZE MINIMUM / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
b) "Max Patch to Hot Springs" : This 4 day hike on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina is another ATLANTA ADVENTURERS favorite! If you want to hike the Appalachian Trail and get a bit of everything - both rough and refined - hike this hike with us! This trip starts at the base of true Appalachian Trail icon - Max Patch Bald - famous for it's unbelievable 360 degree views of both sunrise and sunset from your tent! From there the hike takes you for your last day / night into the quaint, little, trail town of Hot Springs, North Carolina. The streets are literally paved with Appalachian Trail symbols here - because main street here IS the Appalachian Trail! Here you'll soak in both "trail culture" AND in the natural 102 degree waters pumped up from deep below the little town and into the town's famous but inexpensive spa sitting on the banks of the French Broad River (where the town of Hot Springs got it's name). (As any of the Adventurers will attest - getting off the trail and soaking in these soothing water, while sipping local Biltmore Estate Wine as you listen to the waters of the French Broad River just a dozen feet away - is heaven!) That night you have the option of diving headfirst further into "AT" culture at the world famous "Sunnybank Inn" or luxuriate in five star organic cuisine on the front porch of the posh Mountain Magnolia Inn - and wrap up your Appalachian Trail experience in both comfort and style! (The Mountain Magnolia Inn is an impeccably restored victorian manor - which was actually a project house for the PBS television show, "This Old House")

NO GROUP SIZE MINIMUM / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
c) "Trail Days" : MAY 13 to MAY 19 This beautiful, rocky, week-long hike of the Appalachian Trail's Virginia section spends 1 "zero-day" (no miles hiked that day) hanging out at the once a year Appalachian Trail party that thousands of people from all over the world attend - "Trail Days". It all goes down in the small town of Damascus, VA - also known as the "friendliest little town on the AT". MINIMUM 2 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
d) "Half - Gallon Challenge" : This adventure involves hiking a several days south and north of the trails' historical mid-point near Boiling Springs,Pennsylvania - situated just north of the Mason-Dixon line. On this hike you'll get to celebrate crossing over the Appalachian Trails midpoint and hone your hiking skills on the Appalachian Trail's famous "Pennsylvania Rocks" !!!

Meanwhile - WHAT'S WITH THE PICTURE OF THE ICE CREAM you ask ?!!! F.Y.I. - on a point of "trail culture" - by the time "thru-hikers" (those hiking the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine) get to this midpoint of the trail - food is their obsession! These hikers have been burning almost 7,000 calories per day for months now! AND - at this point in the trail - at a nearby state park's general store - a tradition rages on that we just love! Here, with the trail's startling beauty as a backdrop, hikers sit down to eat an entire half-gallon of ice cream by themselves in one sitting! (where else could you eat like this and not gain an ounce of weight?!) MINIMUM 3 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
e) "Tri - State" : This 2 week hike traverses a section of the Appalachian Trail which starts in northern New Jersey, travels across rural New York and crosses into the beginnings of New England in southern Connecticut. Highlights include hiking through the rock maze nicknamed "the lemon squeezer", unbelievable views of the Hudson river valley that Rip-Van-Winkle and Ichabod Crane would have viewed, a distant Manhattan skyline on the far off horizon, the only "Appalachian Trail" railroad stop on the trail, and the one part of the trail that travels through a zoo! MINIMUM 3 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
f)"Yankee - Trek" : This cool section of the trail begins in Massachusetts and ends in Vermont. It's one of our favorite sections of the Appalachian Trail - which includes highlights like: "the most relaxing place on the trail" - Upper Goose Pond and Upper Goose Pond Cabin, Mount Greylock (Massachusetts highest peak), "trail angels" (good samaritans) like "the cookie lady" and "the ice cream man" (who are known for giving away free bowls of their namesakes to hikers passing through, and north-bound and south-bound hikers beginning to meet each other in the summer. This hike will take as many days as you'd like. MINIMUM 3 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
g) "The Presidents" : This adventure hikes over the most talked about and most challenging part of the Appalachian trail - the Presidential Range of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. This 1 week hike is unbelievable - but you need to be physically prepared for it! (even if you have no hiking experience - if you take the time - we CAN prepare you!) The views here are the best of any on the Appalachian Trail - and this is the only part of the trail that climbs so high as to be above tree line. On this part of the trail the rocky, b arren landscape makes you feel more like a mountain climber than a hiker! The weather in this fragile, alpine environment is wild and unpredictable - and having the Atlanta Adventurers expert guides lead you through here is a really good idea! (since some of the worst weather ever recorded has been recorded here!) The range includes Mt. Garfield, Mt. Madison, Mt. Adams and last but not least - the infamous Mt. Washington (the highest wind speed ever recorded was from Mt. Washington's summit!) MINIMUM 3 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
h) "The 100 Mile Wilderness" : This Appalachian Trail adventure meanders for a week across the state of Maine and through some of he most remote mountains and wilderness on the trail. Most of the streams, creeks and rivers that need to be crossed while hiking the Appalachian Trail are located here! This is a land of classic (and vanishing) wilderness that is now being discussed as possibly becoming one of our next new national parks! MINIMUM 3 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
i) "Katahdin - At trail's end" : This 3 day hike starts at the entrance to Baxter State Park in Maine, explores the beauty of this incredible area (p.s. - you are almost guaranteed to see a Moose here!) and summits the mountain that so many have tried for - but only some have succeeded in climbing - Maine's "great mountain" - Mount Katahdin. MINIMUM OF 4 HIKERS / CALL 678-262-8406 24/7 FOR A QUOTE NOW!
